Good morning! So I’m getting back to business. For those who don’t know me or what I do, let me explain.
My name’s Shannon Redwine and I’m an interior decorator. I enrolled in a program and completed it. Since I love decorating, design and all the rest of it, I have for years now been stalking 😨 designers, construction companies, architects and all kinds of other people in the trade. DON’T BE SCARED! LOL!
I do this so that I can learn from these people; learn from their experience and knowledge. And this is not the only way I learn.
Of course I watch HGTV and DIY Network! And any other “home and garden” shows I can. I also visit lots of websites. I participate in Twitter chats with designers and others. I read blogs. I interact with people on social media. Oh so many ways to fill my brain with knowledge.
What I am not, is an interior designer.
An interior designer has had a much more substantial and intensive education. This includes a four-year degree, as well as continuing education, and attending trade events.
A designer can implement structural changes to a building, such as moving walls, appliance connections, etc. They also know building codes, have knowledge of the permitting process, the construction processes, understand architectural drawings, and a lot more.
Designers hire, fire, and work very closely with architects, general contractors, subcontractors, government agencies, other designers, and specialty vendors (such as metal shops, glass installers, furniture builders, etc.)
They do just about everything, don’t they?! I really admire their work and their skill sets.
On the other hand, an interior decorator (such as myself) can draw floor plans that encompass furniture placement, give color and other product recommendations, and help you to find your decorating style.
I provide services virtually. This means we may never meet or talk on the phone, but instead work together on your decor project electronically or in another way such as email, special design software, phone calls, electronic documents that we would share back and forth, or even regular mail.
Whew, that’s a lot of info I know. So now, why would you want to hire me? Let me tell you.
